I was thinking today that I have not done enough reading as of late. When I was younger (I am 62 yrs old now), before we had pc's I did a lot of reading. Ever since I got my first pc (486DX and I think 8 megs of Ram) I got hooked on gaming, lol.
So, today I picked out a several hour slot and did some reading. I majored in English Literature/ Biblical Studies in college. I spent 2 months in 1973 studying in Israel. Later I spent 5 years in graduate school. I earned the Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees. I did not become a minister. I am not cut out for that. I am an academic. I took 5 yrs of courses in New Testament Greek and 5 yrs of Classical Hebrew.
I loved learning those languages. I took history of manuscripts courses, textual criticism as well. Today I was reading a book I bought on Amazon dealing with the history and establishment of the 27 canonical books of the New Testament. It is quite technical. The author is a Professor at a major graduate school and an excellent writer.
I have also recently reread some Charles Dickens as well. I love his character creation and development!
I just think we all need a break from online gaming from time to time. For one it might be going fishing, for another hiking, for another reading (and writing). It makes WoW more fun when I get back to it by taking a break from it.
Just my thoughts.

ooh I seem like a young pup comparitively :) 34 here.
What I used to do away from MMOs "I started in Ultima Online as my first MMO" was I used to be pretty big into constructing electronic devices & even a dash of electronic engineering which I picked up in Vocational School during High School.
Devices I built up out of kits.
Small TV
FM Transmitter
Radio Controlled Cars
Items I actually had a PCB "Printed Circuit Board" Etched out for, for me to build.
Ice borer for ice fishing -- Think tank with it's cannon facing straight down through the center of it... yeah short lived oops waterproofing failed misserably
Self defense electric glove -- Think Tazr built into a leather & rubber glove
radio controlled paintball turret :) -- fun but local PD told me to dismantle it or else, wasn't going to find out the or else
Upcoming project to shake the years of rust off with
PC Speaker controller board to drive 2 mid or full range speakers inside of a PC case while not losing access to the headphone jack or line out.
go pro camera mounted on a quadro copter :) yes I know there's tons out there, I just want to do one myself.
Other than that for the past 10 years or so I've been into reading light novels / manga / hitch hikers guide :) the fun stuff.
So if you ever see me online as Smithymule getting geeked out about new items in Engineering :) that's why, lol and no I'm not reflecting goblin engineering out in real life making everything explode :)
But for now I'm doing the most complex & rewarding of challenges to date. Raising a daughter who is currently 3 :) so if I'm a ghost in guild thats why.
Radio controlled paintball turret... Hmmm... That sounds fun. :)
Yeah! I like that radio controlled paintball turret idea! Way kewl! lol
Actually it's not that bad of a setup, you can even get a thermal sensor with motion sensor so it'd automatically target & shoot anything big enough to be an adult to keep unwanted guests / robbers at bay :)
Don't know if you watched Breaking Bad, but I'm totally picturing the machine gun that Walt rigged in the trunk of the car in the finale.
In short, bad ass.
Golf...Golf...and when I'm not playing Golf, I'm thinking about playing Golf...or doing whatever chores my wife demands that I do...
...so that you can go play golf, right? :P
:) just a quick rendition of how Golf was invented according to Robin Williams.
